How to Use Verruca-Freeze®

Before getting started, be sure to familiarize yourself with the proper technique.

Two Methods of Application

Select an applicator based on the location of the lesion to be treated and choose a size that is approximately 1mm larger than the lesion.

CryoCones

Use cones for fleshy areas of the body, where a tight seal can be easily achieved, such as the stomach or back.

Available Sizes: 3, 5, 7, 9, 12mm

Tip: 12mm CryoCone® may be inverted, or turned upside down, to treat lesions up to 25mm in size

CryoBuds

Use buds for bony or hard-to-reach areas of the body, as well as the head, face, and neck.

Available Sizes: 3, 5, 9mm

Medium and large CryoBuds® will hold freeze charge for 90–120 seconds, so 2–3 lesions can be frozen on the same patient

CryoCone® Method

Position the tip of the cone around the lesion and press firmly to create a seal.

Lightly spray cryogen at a 45° angle against the inside wall of the cone for 3–6 seconds or until 1/8 to 1/4 inch of accumulation has occurred.

Hold cone firmly in place for 20–40 seconds until cryogen has completely evaporated or boiled off.

CryoBud® Method

Lightly spray cryogen for 3–6 seconds or until the bud is saturated to the first drip point. Be sure to rotate the bud while saturating.

Wait approximately 15–20 seconds for the bud to crystallize and reach optimal freezing temperature of -70° C.

Place the frozen bud directly onto the lesion and hold firmly for 15–40 seconds.

Inserted Method

For one-handed application, CryoBud® may be inserted directly into the nozzle. If using this method, hold canister at a 90° angle with bud pointed downward for optimal saturation.

Post-Application

After a successful treatment, a concentric white ice ball should appear on the area treated. Allow ice ball to thaw naturally for a minimum of 40 seconds. It is important to not touch the area until completely thawed as premature warming will reduce the effectiveness of the freeze.

If no ice ball is visible, the lesion may have been under-frozen. Repeat the steps above to ensure destruction of the entire lesion.
